Laurel Education
Observation intelligence for educators.
Laurel Education helps teachers capture observations of their students, organize the evidence, and turn it into clear, well-written evaluations — so report cards take less time and say more. Built and hosted in Canada, with student privacy in mind from day one.
The problem
Teachers notice everything about their students all year, then have to turn it into a report card comment in one sitting.
Sticky notes, scattered photos, and half-remembered moments make it hard to write evaluations that are specific, fair, and actually reflect the whole term.
How Laurel helps
Laurel gives teachers a single place to capture what they notice about each student — a quick note, a photo, a voice memo — tagged to the student and the curriculum strand it relates to. When it's time to write evaluations, Laurel turns the observations you've already captured into an AI-assisted first draft you edit and finish — not a blank page.
What's inside
Observation capture
Capture it once, from any device — so it's there when you need it, not just a memory of the moment.
Evidence library
Never dig through your camera roll again — photos, notes, and files stay organized and linked to the right student.
Evaluation drafts
Skip the blank page. Turn a term's worth of observations into a clear evaluation draft in minutes, not hours.
Reporting & exports
Generate clear, shareable reports without manual formatting — so the paperwork doesn't eat your evening.
Class & roster tools
Keep every class organized in one place, whether you teach one section or several.
Standards alignment
Map observations to the curriculum strands and rubrics you already use — no extra translation work.
From observation to evaluation
How a quick note becomes a finished evaluation.
Illustrative example — not a real student or an actual generated draft.
Observation
“Maya independently identified the main idea in three consecutive reading responses this week, and helped a classmate revise their thesis statement during peer editing.”
Evidence collected
12 reading comprehension observations, 4 collaboration notes, and 2 photos gathered over the term.
AI-assisted draft
“Maya consistently demonstrates strong reading comprehension, frequently identifying main ideas with minimal support. She has also shown growth in collaboration, offering constructive feedback to peers during group work.”
Teacher edits
“Maya has grown into a confident, independent reader this term — she reliably picks out the main idea and pulls together textual evidence with little guidance. She's also become someone her classmates count on during peer editing.”

Why Laurel
Not another AI-writes-everything tool.
Evidence first, not a blank page.
Laurel captures what you notice all year, so evaluations are built on evidence — not memory, under deadline pressure.
AI assists, you decide.
Laurel drafts a starting point from your own observations. You edit it, refine it, and it stays yours.
Built around how teachers actually work.
Not a generic education platform — designed specifically around classroom observation and report-card writing.
How we think about data
Laurel handles student observation and evaluation records, and we don’t take that lightly. Here’s how Laurel already works today — full data-handling documentation will be published before launch.
Canadian data residency: Laurel is built and operated by a Canadian company. Your account and Student Data are stored and processed on Google Cloud infrastructure located in Canada — see the one narrow exception in our Privacy Policy.
Private by default
Every observation is scoped to your account — not visible to other teachers or anyone else.
Encrypted, always
In transit and at rest, on the same cloud infrastructure schools already trust with other tools.
Never sold
We don't sell data, and we don't use it for anything beyond running Laurel.
Privacy by design
Built with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and provincial student-privacy expectations in mind from the start, not added on afterward.
Who it's for
Built for teachers who actually know their students.
K-12 teachers who want to spend less time on end-of-term write-ups and more time on the classroom moments that actually matter — with evidence to back up every evaluation.
“You handle the acorns.”
Laurel keeps the evidence organized, so you can focus on the observation in front of you.
Who Laurel is built for
Two ways to bring Laurel in.
For teachers
Make your own life easier — capture evidence all year, and let Laurel help you turn it into evaluations you’re proud of.

Is Laurel Education live yet?
Not for real classrooms yet — we’re onboarding teachers, schools, boards, and districts as Laurel gets ready to launch. You can try the live demo with sample data right now, and get in touch if you’d like to become one of Laurel’s founding teachers.
What does it cost?
$9.99/month or $90/year for individual teachers. Schools and boards get volume pricing — see the details below.
What platform does it run on?
Laurel works right in your browser and installs like an app — on a Windows laptop, Mac, phone, or tablet — so it’s there for a quick observation in the classroom, and for the heavier report card writing back at your desk. No app store required.
Is my students' data secure?
We take it seriously — see “How we think about data” below, and our Privacy Policy for the specifics.
